Message from the President: May 2024

May 1, 2024 | Newsletter, President's Messages

Dear Members,

I hope this message finds each of you eagerly anticipating the start of the golf season!

It is with a mixture of sadness and fond remembrance, I take a moment to honor the memory of William (Bill) S. McNamara, a cherished member of our East Aurora Country Club family. Bill’s presence, as a longstanding member and past President (1989), as well as his role as a Mulligan, has left an indelible mark on our community. Over a span of 40 years, Bill and Sheila enjoyed the sport, camaraderie, and the enduring friendships that make our club special. His absence will be keenly felt, and his memory cherished by many.

On a brighter note, the golf course is in fantastic condition thanks to Drew and his staff. What a pleasure it is to drive up the driveway and see such a beautiful sight. With the coming of summer, our leagues will be gearing up for action: from the Ladies 18 hole, Men’s and Women’s Twilight, Ladies 9 hole, Friday Mulligans, and the PGA Junior League there’s something for everyone. The clubhouse and patio will be buzzing with activity, offering the perfect backdrop for a postgame refreshment and recap of activities.

Our ongoing efforts to enhance the club’s facilities have borne fruit, with several projects already completed. The replacement of the roofs on the Pro Shop and cart barn ensures improved infrastructure, while the removal of the telephone poles and trees on holes 9 and 10, along with the clearing of the hedgerow near the front entry, has enhanced both the aesthetics and functionality.

Looking ahead, we have additional projects slated for completion this year, from painting the Pro Shop, to finalizing the pickleball area, and outlining long term plans for future endeavors, there’s much to look forward to.

In the spirit of renewal, I’m pleased to extend a warm welcome to our newest staff members. John Cantafio joins us as an assistant house manager, while Chef Tony takes the helm in the kitchen. Brittany has been working diligently on increasing our staffing levels to ensure that your experience at the club remains consistent and up to expectations.

As always, if anyone has any questions, comments, concerns please reach out to any Board Member or Manager so we can address the situation. If we do not know who you are, or what the issue is, we cannot adequately work to a solution or resolution.

Thank you for your continued support of our club as we are adjusting to make your experience memorable.

Best regards,
Rich
