The golf season is about to begin. May is one of the best months of the year—there is liberation from winter and so much yet to look forward to in the golfing year. In 2022, May will have some very special moments for our 292 full members and our many other associate members.
- Golf leagues will begin and we have our first major of the year, the Tulip, right around the corner
- Our Halfway House will open for the first time and will be staffed by a full-time manager
- We will accept bids for the major clubhouse renovation project and award a contract to the successful bidder so that construction can begin later in the year
- The expanded and improved South Patio will open to our members
- Our course architect, Ian Andrew, will visit the club to assess Course Master Plan implementation to date and recommend master plan revisions for member review
- The new driving range mats will have their first use and you will see other improvements to the driving range experience
- Our parking lots will be sealed and re-striped giving us protection for the next several years
The Board is also moving forward with other key initiatives expected to be completed by the end of this year. Stay tuned for further details on the following:
- The sand-trap replacement project–Phase 1 (front nine)
- Nets and restriping for additional pickle-ball courts in the tennis court area
- The removal of the large tree, the replacement of the unsightly broken down fence and the overall clean-up of the corral area next to the cart barn
I would also like to draw attention to the energy and excitement in the clubhouse. You will see the new TVs in the bar and I would encourage you to welcome our very engaging new bar manager, Kullen Willard, and enjoy some of the interesting drink concoctions he has in his inventory to share with us. We have a full staff for the first time since 2019 awaiting you as you return and many fun events lined up throughout the summer. The managers have also hired a full-time locker room attendant and you may expect a significant improvement in the ways the locker rooms will be cleaned, maintained and in the quality of the shoe service during the year.
The managers have several other small projects that will have significant impact for your experience rolling out over the year as well. The level of energy and collegiality they are exhibiting as individuals and together as a team reflects their desire to continuously improve your experience as a member. They look forward to hearing from you about what you are enjoying and what can be improved. All feedback is a gift.
Enjoy your May at EACC, this great month of the year. Sean Sullivan
