So IJM month is finally here! Our committee has been working very hard putting this together and we are very excited
to see the tournament right on our doorstep. As we sit right now, both the boys and girls fields are set—72 boys and 12 girls.
We will have the most flags ever this year—a record 14 different flags. This is a credit to Paul O’Brien and his group (Joe
Jackson, Dave Lefebre, Cory Cullen, Sean Schoenborn and Mary Kamien) OB has spent quite a bit of time over the years
cultivating contacts here and around the world in order to make this happen.
With all of these different flags comes the need to house some of our world travelers. It is a longstanding tradition for
EACC members to open their homes and take care of our junior competitors for a week. If you have some interest/availability,
please see Mark Melas as I believe we may be a few beds short at the moment.
For those interested in volunteering as spotters and scorers, please see the signup sheet in the golf shop. I am sure
Rudy and Doug will glad to put you to work.
Just a quick summary of the week as a reminder to long time members and as information for our newer members:
Monday, June 24—Ham AmTuesday, June 25—Medal play begins on 1st Tee at 7:00am
Wednesday, June 26—Medal Play continues off 1st and 10th Tees at 8:00am, Champions Dinner at 6:00 pm
Thursday, June 27—Match Play begins off 1st and 10th Tees at 7:30am,
Match play second round begins off 1st/10th Tees at 12:30
Friday, June 28—Match Play finals begin off 1st Tee at 7:30
Match play finals begin off 1st Tee at 1:00
FINALS PARTY BEGINS AT 5:00!
It goes without saying that we could not pull this off without the tremendous support from our membership. Each year,
dozens of members sacrifice their time to stage what I believe to be one of the premier junior golf tournaments in the country.
Many members serve on committees, sponsor the tournament, act as spotters, assist with the media, work the hospitality tent,
work on scoring or simply act as unofficial EACC ambassadors by welcoming our juniors and their parents/coaches with a
smile or encouraging words. Many thanks to all of you for doing this each year.
