So here we are in 2023. I hope everyone made out okay during the Blizzard of 2022. For those members who made out okay because they were already down south: I am very envious. Winter has most certainly settled in here in WNY and a sunny day has been a rare thing indeed as of late. Still, we know that winter will someday yield to spring and golf at EACC. Hopefully that comes early this year!
The IJM committees have come out of hibernation and have begun working on the 70th edition of the International Junior Masters. Player applications opened up on January 15th and we have already received over 30 applications. The player group, led by Paul O’Brien, has also been busy cultivating relationships around the country as well as internationally as we look to improve upon the tremendous field we had last year. It is very early but things are trending very favorably at the moment.
The Finance group is holding their first meeting the first week of February and we are hopeful that we will be able to match the success of last year in that area as well. A few key dates to note are May 6— IJM Qualifier at 12:30, June 26–Ham Am at noon and June 27-30–IJM with the Finals Party on June 30 at 5:00.
It is not too late for people to get involved in this year’s tournament. We need help in preparing for the Ham Am (prizes, logistics, hole sponsors, etc.) We also could use some help on the sponsorship and advertising area. During tournament week we will need assistance with scoring as well as housing. Around Memorial Day, Rudy and Doug will post the spotter schedule in the Golf Shop and assistance is always needed and appreciated there.
