Wrapping up the month of July was the Jack and Jill event. Bruce and Anna Davidson came out at the top of the leaderboard with a modified chapman score of 79. Winning the net portion of the tournament was Eric and LuAnn Burghardt with 62.

To kick off the month of August, our Ladies 9 group hosted their annual guest day on the 3rd. The top team at the end of the day was Donna McKenna, Jennifer Dean, Lisa Bonaventura & Shelley Bonaventura with a score of 40.

The following night, we ran a second shotgun Nine and Dine Friday Social due to the popularity of the first iteration. The turnout was good yet again and the winning team consisted of Bob and Linda LaManna with a score of 35 in the two-person alternate shot format.

With the alteration of the Club Championship format, the Junior Club Championship carried a little extra weight starting this year. The Juniors played a week ahead of the Club Championship on August 5th, with the winner receiving a place in the Men’s Club Championship. Mike Wolski fired an impressive one under par 70 with a back nine 32 to book his spot in the following weekend’s festivities.

Our Women’s Twilight season wrapped up in the early part of the month. Taking home the regular season crown was Kathy Lentz & Denise Tait with a total of 83 points. Our playoff winners were Deb Lyons & Marge Lawless with a 66 and taking first on a match of cards.

The Men’s Twilight league also finished up and regular season flight
winners are as follows:

“A” Flight – Sam Queer & Dick Westermeier
“B” Flight – Steve Radziwon & Jerry Thompson/Joe Perillo & Frank Jurek
“C” Flight – Keith Junik & Andy Netzel
“E” Flight – Jeff Leff & Tom Subjeck
“F” Flight – Jim McCready & Jack Livingston
“G” Flight – Kyle Byrns & Pat Byrns/Craig Poturalski & Erik Schleicher “E” Flight – Jeff Pappalardo & Mike Ervin

The playoffs resulted in a tie, meaning a playoff is required to break that tie. Results for the playoffs will be in next month’s edition.

The Club Championship was contested on the 12th & 13th of the month, and the turnout was terrific. The slight changes in the details of the event made it have a more official feel. We saw a lot of really good golf over the course of the weekend. Our 2023 Club Champion is Cory Cullen with a two-day score of 143. Our Women’s Club Champion is Molly Zittel with a total score of 169. Flight Winners are as follows:

Championship Flight – Billy Hanes – 146

1st Flight – Peter Lyons – 156, 2nd Flight – Joe Porreca – 172 , 3rd Flight – Chris Tolomeo – 183, 4th Flight – Dave Jablonski – 185

The Women’s Member-Member took place over two consecutive Tuesdays during the middle part of the month. The two-day ringer format produced some impressive scores, none more so than Peggy Johnson & Deb Ruschmann with a score of -17. Well done!

The ever popular August Stag was a fantastic day all around. Between the weather, the company, the golf and the food, we couldn’t have asked for much more. Our winners were Al McCabe, TR Casamento, Pat McParlane, Sr., & Rick Henry with 118. The Established Flight was captured by Jon Zach, Alex Zach, Mark Fitzpatrick & Matt Fitzpatrick with 123. The Unestablished Flight was won by the team of Mark Casillo, Don Moeller, Mike Zosh & Dave Morris with 113.

Senior Guest Day took place on the afternoon of the 24th and Jay Hoagland & Jeff Potter shot an impressive 60 to win by three. The Gross portion of the day was won by Paul O’Brien & Dave Roetzer with 69. The Walter Hagen flight top spot consisted of Jeff Rosser & Dick Blaszkiewicz while the Bobby Jones flight was won by Jim Sickler & John Cartus.

We’re always excited when the Women’s Board sponsored social comes up on the calendar. They do a great job supporting worthy causes year after year and this year was no different with PARS for PUNT. While the golf is secondary to the charitable fundraising, we did want to recognize the team that came out at the top of the leaderboard. Dave Nelson, James Sabo, Ron Baker & Donna Baker had the best dice ball scramble score by one with a 27.
