From the Golf Shop:
Well, spring is almost here, when you read this, it will be less than 40 days until the Masters. The unofficial start to WNY Golf. Although, I have already seen several of you out here on some of the nicer winter days. For some reason 45 degrees feels like 65 in January and February.
We have some exciting things ahead for the 2024 season. I’ll get started by announcing a new “trade in” opportunity that will be available to start this year’s season. I’m planning on having a representative here on April 17th to evaluate and take your trades. This program takes all the work out of unloading some of your older equipment and starting the year with a head start in your credit book. Sean Adamczyk with StickX will be on site to offer you and put the money in your credit book that day. So, if you are thinking about making some purchases for the upcoming season, start looking through your existing equipment and let’s save you some money. (Your trade in dollars can be spent for any items in the shop. It doesn’t have to be strictly for equipment purchases but does have to be spent on golf merchandise.
The PGA Junior League will be fast approaching. This is a great program that provides our junior members the opportunity to get some spring instruction and play some of our neighboring private clubs in a semi-competitive format. (Semi being the operative word) It’s a relaxed 2 child scramble that removes the pressure of having to play your own ball while learning the nuances of the game. I highly recommend enrolling your child or grandchild. Just go to https://www.pgajrleague.com/ to register. It is only open to children and grandchildren of EACC members, so you will need the following password to register. EACC2024 The program will begin in the first part of April and wrap up by the end of May. There will be 4 matches and 8 instructional practices included. We will wrap it up with a pizza party to celebrate the season. (Uniforms and tee gifts are also included in the pricing)
Lastly, we are looking to implement a season long ringer tournament. For those of you that don’t know, we will have a number of 2-person team. There will be a gross and net division. Each time you play, if you get a better score on that hole, the new score counts. So, if you are struggling with #1 and can’t make better than 6 then that’s your score, However, if you happen to chip in one day for a 3, the 3 is now your score. At the end of the event, the teams with the low 18-hole scores are the winner. The goal is to run one from April through July 4, and another from July 5 through Labor Day. You don’t have to play with our partner to better your score for the team. However, you must be in a group with another member that is participating. The cards will be turned in to the golf shop and we will take it from there.
Teams can be men, women, or mixed. Can’t have subs. The scores must come from the original team. And what’s best is you can switch partners for the second half of the season. Just something we want to try. I’m confident it will create some buzz and excitement.
